Level 3 Diploma for the Children & Young People's Workforce

This is the second of three levels of vocational qualification specifically available for people working in children and young people's services. This award is suitable for anyone who is supporting children and young people in a wide range of settings e.g. residential children's home or school, in your own home if you are a foster carer, a family centre, respite care / outreach service or leaving care facility. Your job role is likely to be one where you are undertaking both routine and non-routine tasks, both under the guidance and supervision of another senior member of the team and on your own initiative. This may be in a supervisory role or working in the community with minimal direct supervision e.g. a senior support worker, team / shift leader community support worker, domiciliary care worker or a foster carer.

As well as the 'mandatory' tasks you may be undertaking a range of specific tasks that either relate to your job role specifically or to the needs and circumstances of the children and young people you support. As well as a range of more general task areas such as assessing and reviewing needs and developing support plans there are a number of specific children and young people focused areas. These include supporting young people to manage their own lives, achieve their educational potential, form supportive relationships, develop their identity, promote their physical and mental wellbeing or prepare for adulthood.

If this sounds like the type of task you carry out every day you are at work then a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce is the right qualification for you.
