Level 3 Award in Awareness of Dementia

This qualification provides the basic information for entry into dementia care practice. As a result it is appropriate for people who are not yet working in a dementia care setting or those who are just starting work in a dementia care setting.

To achieve the Level 3 Award you need a total of 11 credits gained by demonstrating your knowledge and understanding, care values and attitudes across the mandatory units.

All 11 credits come from the 4 mandatory units:

• Understand the process and experience of Dementia
• Understand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person centred approach
• Understand the role of communication and interactions with individuals who have dementia
• Understand the diversity of individuals with dementia and the importance of inclusion.

These units are knowledge units and are assessed through the completion of written assignments.

To gain the required knowledge and understanding needed to successfully complete these assignments you will need to attend a course. Course materials and workbooks are provided. Courses times and dates are available upon request.
