Case Study Two
'The flexible, knowledgeable approach of the dedicated tutor helped me achieve the Leadership and Management for Care Services Award in four months'
This is the feedback Revolutions Training received from Jakki Anderson who works as an Administrator at a busy nursing home on the South Coast. Her job involves recruitment, human resources management and Care Quality Commission compliance activities. She has a lot of previous management experience, albeit not in health and social care. Jakki decided to take the Leadership and Management for Care Services Award so that she had some 'formal qualifications'. She obtained some funding towards the cost through the Train to Gain Leadership funding.
For Jakki the organisation benefitted as a result of the tutor's flexibility and the short time taken to achieve the Award both of which suited the needs of the business.
Jakki feels she was quite well motivated to start with, and that her Assessor, Tina was the other motivating factor.
Jakki says
'Tina provided me with exceptional help, support and encouragement. Tina must be one of the few tutors who would have 'marked' and fed back on the 27th of December for an assignment submitted just a few days before, and to do the same at weekends. I really appreciated Tina's 'rapid response support and assignment marking service' on email, and found her professional, humorous and realistic approach to adult learning and achievement both inspiring and refreshing'.
Jakki's achievement comes as a result of the combination of effective working in partnership with her NVQ assessor, her consistent and focussed approach to her NVQ and working with an e-portfolio assessment system.
On working with Jakki, her Assessor Tina commented
I would like to say that working with Jakki was a pleasure as at the beginning Jakki made the commitment to put aside some hours per week to work on the award and she always had her work prepared and sent it to me on time.
And finally, what is Jakki's advice to anyone considering doing an NVQ through Revolutions Training?
'Do it! In my experience your tutor will support and encourage you all the way'
