National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ)
Revolutions provide NVQ Awards at all the available levels for people working in health and social care i.e. levels 2 - 4 including the Leadership and Management for Care Services Award.
To achieve an NVQ you have to show that you have the skills, knowledge, understanding, care values and attitudes that are required within a number of job role tasks. It is important to remember that no NVQ will cover all the tasks you may undertake as part of your job only a selection of the main areas.
Some of these tasks are considered to be central or 'core' to any work role in health and social care. Some tasks are more specialised or specific to different work settings or the people being supported. These 'optional' areas are chosen by you to reflect your work area and/or the people you support.
All health and social care qualifications have a set of work tasks that are considered to be 'core' or central to work at that level regardless of where that work is being carried out. These core areas of work are tasks such as:
- communicating verbally and in writing
- adhering to health and safety procedures
- treating people with dignity, respect and equality while recognising and valuing individuality
- keeping others safe from harm
- developing your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can be more effective both personally and within your work role
The complexity of these tasks within different roles is reflected in each NVQ award level.

NVQ Level 4 Leadership and Management for Care Services (LMCS)
This award replaces the NVQ Level 4 Registered Manager (Adults) Award (RMA) and unlike the RMA is appropriate for anyone who is taking a leadership and management role within any type of health or social care workplace whether this is supporting adults or children and young people. It is however still a requirement that the person designated as the registered manager of a Care Quality Commission (CQC) (formally the Commission Social Care Inspection (CSCI)) registered service has attained a care qualification at Level 4 or above and a management qualification at level 4 or above. Ideally the person would undertake the care qualification first and then the LMCS.
